Unpleasant Horse, in which a naughty Pegasus pushes hapless animals into meat grinders, is apparently a little too unpleasant for Apple's tastes. In a series of tweets (via Joystiq), PopCap's new experimental label 4th & Battery announced that Apple rejected the free iPhone game. "We thought horses dying in meat grinders were wholesome family entertainment!" the team joked in a now-deleted tweet.

4th & Battery is appealing with a higher rating, and set to make an official statement soon. In the meantime, the team has been none-too-subtly complimenting Apple.

4th & Battery was formed to help give PopCap teams an outlet for their creativity, and to build on strange ideas that might not fit the standard PopCap mold. Unpleasant Horse is its first game -- or it will be, when and if Apple accepts it.

Who cares if Apple rejects it? It's not like there are not other markets out there. Bring it to PC and the new windows tabs and phones.

But there are other big markets. Put it on Android and WP7. Put it on Steam. After Switching from my iPhone, don't really feel compelled to buy anything Apple right now. Unless your an Apple worshipper, you'll have another platform available in your house to get it on.

The trouble here is that it's rejected after the game is complete. Writing a game is a pretty time consuming and costly thing, and having a finished product rejected is very harsh.

As I imagine Popcap games bring in alot of revenue, this seems like a terrible idea for Apple to have done.

What do they mean by appealing with a higher rating?

Did they put it in asking for a Family or Teen rating, and Apple rejected it because it should have been Mature?

Look at my horse, my horse was rejected,
Give it a lick *ow* You've now been injected,
With a whip of its mane, it gets rejected again,
And rejected again when it shows them its winkie.
      *ooh that's dirty*
Do you think so? Well I better not show you where the submission's made...
