inFamous 2 trailer is super-powered
inFamous 2 gets a new "Quest for Power" trailer that shows of some of Cole's new abilities.
The folks over at Sucker Punch have released an electrical new trailer for inFamous 2.
In the first game, Cole was caught in the midst of a city-leveling blast from a device called the Ray Sphere, and found himself imbued with some shocking superpowers enabling him to fight for good (or evil) in Empire City. In inFamous 2, Cole must continue to expand his suite of abilities so that he's equipped to confront an approaching, powerful "Beast," foreshadowed in the first game.
The sequel sees Cole and his trusty buddy Zeke head south to the city of New Marais (inspired by New Orleans), in search of more superpowers and Dr. Sebastian Wolfe, the man behind the Ray Sphere technology.
Apparently, Dr. Wolfe has managed to isolate the type of energy that facilitates genetic mutations, and he's been focused on creating technology intended to harness and manipulate this energy. The few individuals who can actually survive exposure to such energy are called Conduits. Cole just happens to be one.
The official PlayStation blog elaborates:
Wolfe has also developed a device — called a Blast Core— which can store this type of energy safely for an extended period of time. Over the years, he's built and charged six of these Blast Cores. So to continue his evolution, Cole will need to locate these all-important Blast Cores, and absorb their energy into his body. But Wolfe fears the Blast Cores will fall into the wrong hands, so he has moved them to safe locations around the city — and Cole will have to hunt them all down.
inFamous 2 is due out on June 7, exclusively for PlayStation 3.
