The Ubisoft-published, cel-shaded shooter XIII (A.K.A. Thirteen) has awoken unclear of its past on GOG.com. The first-person shooter is an adaptation of the Franco-Belgian comics series of the same name from creators Jean Van Hamme and William Vance.

XIII is available on Good Old Games for $5.99 and features both single- and multiplayer modes as well as a few GOG.com extras (avatars and the game's soundtrack).

The game begins when a man--codenamed XIII--wakes up somewhere in New York, badly wounded and with no memory of his past. Starring the voice talents of David Duchovny and Adam West, the game was released to mixed reviews when it launched for the PC, Xbox, PS2, and GameCube in 2003.

That game was awesome, I'll have to pick it up again. Also, we need NOLF on there if it isn't already.

NOLF is not yet on GOG, nor any digital download service. I long for the day this changes.

Well, they have both Bloods, and Shogo: MAD, so hopefully more/the rest of Monolith's back catalog will eventually pop up.

I made a list of Monolith's shooters on GOG. I was sad that I couldn't add NOLF and NOLF2 to said list.

Good one. It has interesting visuals, nice weapons and the cartoon touches are refreshing for an FPS.

That's right; this was back in the bad old days when Ubisoft was messing with evil DRM (the more things change, the more they stay the same). Thankfully Homey GoG don't play dat.

I somehow remember it being Starforce and that's why I avoided this game

Did they ever end up making a movie based on XIII?

They did a two-part TV miniseries with Val Kilmer.

It's worth playing. I hated the save system, but the game over all really looked great.

Buy it just for the hilarious levels of boredom, unending contempt, wounded dignity and bitterness that flows from Fox Moulder's delivery as he voices the main character!
