L.A. Noire gameplay trailer grills punks
Investigating and interrogating, the meat and potatoes of video game policing, are explained in the second L.A. Noire gameplay trailer.
The second part of the fabulous L.A. Noire trailer serious explaining Team Bondi's open-world dick 'em up has arrived, explaining the real meat and potatoes of video game police work.
The new trailer covers players will go about investigating crime scenes and putting the screws on people as Cole Phelps. The more you discover, the more you can pry out of suspects and witnesses, opening up new avenues of investigation. However, you'll need to assess each person and approach them correctly or they'll clam up tighter than a police chief's keister.
The first gameplay trailer, if you missed it, gave a broad overview of the game.
L.A. Noire is due out for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 17 in North America, published by Rockstar Games. As is par for the course, a number of pre-order incentives are on offer, from bonus-giving outfits to new cases.

Today on America's Top Chef: The contestants are put to the heat when they try out the unfamiliar territory of Punk Grilling! Will the step up to the challenge, or will the punks... grill them? Also there's fire in the kitchen when Amy and Alejandro argue over the proper way to prep their Punks: is it Good Cop / Bad Cop or an orange marinade?

Those things do exist, made by third parties so I couldn't say what the quality is like.
ex: http://www.gioteck.com/wordpress/?page_id=1082
even lets you swap L1 / R1 with L2 / R2 on the device, for shooters that don't let you remap in game.-

I swear there was one that looked identical but I can't find it.

It's a strange tech indeed. The mouth movements are way better than CGI(Tron for example) movies but they almost look like they put flat rounded surfaces over a face and are playing video of the actor speaking, tracked on the points of the face and using some color tricks to make it look like they modelled it. It's definately not done with exact models then lip tracked...-
That's more or less what they did. Keep in mind I'm not an animator so this may not all be completely accurate, but they recorded each of the actors in full costume and makeup with a ton of HD cameras and are able to use that footage to map the performance onto character models. So you're basically getting the actors' original performance. It looks amazing.

I looked again at some of the videos and there is one that explains what they did was create a volumetric model based on the video capture. Very precise volume model. They definitely needed the actors to be exact in their performances or else it would have been bad. Unfortunately more companies could have this tech but without good/great performances it will be like the new poor voice acting but 1000x worse.

Here is a video of the tech behind the facial animations if someone hasn't seen it yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2EG5J05048&feature=channel_video_title&hd=1

Man, this trailer's looking even better than the last one. I remember in some of the other trailers there was a small problem with the faces not matching up with the movements of the body, but they seem to have fixed that now.
It really does look fucking amazing, and I'm really excited that we're getting a slow-paced game that focuses on detail and precision for a change.
