GDC: Magicka: Vietnam expansion announced
The wizardly action-RPG is astonishingly headed to Nam, it was revealed today, with a remarkable rendition of Surfin' Bird.
Having promised a Magicka surprise at GDC, publisher Paradox Interactive today announced an expansion for Arrowhead's action-RPG named, against all odds, Magicka: Vietnam.
"Have you ever wondered what it would have been like if wizards were allowed to roam the jungles of war-torn Vietnam, attempting to bring peace and stability to the region by casting spells on all opponents?" Paradox asks in the announcement.
You'll get to find out just that this spring, when the expansion is released for download. Pricing has not yet been confirmed.
More than that, though, have you ever wondered what it would be like if The Trashmen's Nam-era song Surfin' Bird was sung in Magicka's nonsense language? Because you can answer that question right now by watching the announcement trailer:

There's this poster: http://cf.shacknews.com/images/20110301/magicka_vietnam_poster_17140.jpg
I'm afraid the only shot with the jets is a trailer snap, though.-

I guess you didn't notice that the staff and the arm holding it are at different angles, not just in 2 dimensions but it's actually more "forward" in one of them, you can see farther down the sleeve. Also, the staff itself isn't flipped horizontally, it's in the same orientation as the one in the foreground. Finally, the guy in the background has far different lighting than the guy in the foreground and you can even see some of his face.
While I'm sure they started with copying, flipping, and pasting, there are quite a few differences between the two.-
Noticed all of that, but it's not nearly as jarring as the initial copy and paste of the full figure less the arm and the staff. It's mostly the flap of the robe being on the opposite side that's so annoyingly eye-catching.
If they had just kept that the same, none of this would have been just a jarring visual experience.-

There -- I fixed it. Looks better already.

It could prevent you from posting to them and also prevent them from showing up for those who don't want to see nuked posts and for people who don't have accounts.
I'm not seriously saying you guys SHOULD change it. I just often wish I could keep reading posts that got nuked for being stupid because I usually find them entertaining.
On the other hand there are reasons to nuke posts such that no one can see them, like if someone put too much information in a post and asked for a nuke or whatever.
