Rockstar has released details on its various pre-order bonuses for L.A. Noire. The assorted goodies will be available across stores in the US, UK, and Canada. GameStop stores in the US and Canada, and Game in the UK, will get 'The Naked City' vice case and the Badge Pursuit Challenge. In the vice case, players investigate the death of a fashion model. The badge pursuit is a treasure hunt for 20 badges that award 5 XP per badge. They'll also unlock the Button Man suit if you snag them all. Amazon offers the 'Broderick' suit, giving a boost to fist-fighting and damage resilience. The 'Slip of the Tongue' traffic case is available from Wal-Mart in the US and Canada, or Play in the UK. Best Buy in the US and Canada, and Zavvi in the UK, gives the 'Sharpshooter' suit, which (obviously enough) grants you better aim. Pre-ordering from the Rockstar Warehouse nets you an L.A. Noire t-shirt, while Target pre-orders get a $5 gift card, along with a Rockstar t-shirt if they pick up their game in-store during launch week. L.A. Noire ships for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 17.

  • Amazon: "The Broderick" Detective Suit boosts your fist-fighting capabilities and resilience to damage. Throughout L.A. Noire while working cases, you'll encounter quite a few suspects and persons of interest who prove to be resistant to arrest. Your hand-to-hand fighting skills will be called into action on these cases – the Broderick suit with its enhanced fighting abilities may be that edge in helping make that collar.
  • Best Buy: "The Sharpshooter" Detective Suit enhances your aim with rifles and pistols. Always a worst case scenario for any detective working a case, there are of course those occasions for Cole Phelps when pursuing a suspect escalates to gunfire. In these tense shootouts, the Sharpshooter suit provides that extra aiming precision to take the criminal down.
  • GameStop: 'The Naked City' Vice Case -- In this bonus case from L.A. Noire's Vice Desk, detective Cole Phelps investigates the supposed suicide of a stunning fashion model. Can you help Cole unravel the truth in a city blighted by drugs, corruption and greed, where the death of a beautiful woman is never as straightforward as it seems?; The Badge Pursuit Challenge -- Hidden around L.A. Noire's beautiful recreation of 1947 Los Angeles are 20 police badges to find and collect. If you can find all 20 of these badges, the dapper Button Man suit will be unlocked which provides extra ammo for all weapons. Each badge also provides 5 additional XP which will help further unlock Intuition Points – special credits that can be used to give Phelps a key investigative insight when you need it most.
  • Wal-Mart: "A Slip of the Tongue" Traffic Case is a bonus case from the Traffic Desk in which a seemingly run of the mill car theft ends up sparking an explosive investigation into the largest auto fraud racket the city has ever seen. With the stolen cars piling up and questionable characters at every turn, can you help Cole Phelps crack the biggest case so far in his career?
  • Target: $5 gift card with pre-orders, Rockstar Games t-shirt with first week purchases.

        I don't like retailer-specific pre-order bonuses.

The retailer I typically don't use gets the good stuff.

Ok, who cares about excluive suits but exclusive cases? Fuck that noise. However Gamestop looks like it has the edge.

The suits are kinda cool. Red Dead had the same system. Special abilities based on the suit you had. But... I don't like staggered bonuses.

I wouldn't mind preorder bonuses if they were universal. Strange that Wal-Mart got the best one. That's not gonna help very many people.

Sez you. I'd much rather solve a vice case than a traffic case.

I added the listing from Rockstar so people can read the details directly from the publisher regarding the bonuses. Which do you think is best?

The Gamestop one looks like the best one. A new case, a new suit, and a collection minigame (which I actually am not at all interested in). Either way it's 3 things rather than 1 and 2 of them are on par with the stuff you get from the other pre-orders.

Woops, my bad, the Gamestop one didn't have a suit. Misread it somehow on the Rockstar page.

I still think that's the best one though because I'm more interested in cases than suits and I'd rather work a vice case than a traffic one.

I figure the game is likely to be more than playable without the suit bonuses. If it's not then they've failed to create a good game. For that reason, I don't care much about the suit bonuses themselves.

Also, the thing that interests me about this game is solving cases, so the more of those I can do, the happier I'll be. if all of the DLC's were either a suit or a case, I'd probably choose the one that sounds like the most interesting case.

Anyone have any idea which platform the game is likely to run best on? I'm guessing PS3 because originally it wasn't even going to come out for Xbox. Anyone know which system the gameplay has been from so far?

Another "GOTY," purchase, DLC is the devil. I know that is an old school mentality but I just hate being nickel and dimed for a game.

Man I despise pre-order bonuses (when there are three fucking places to pre-order for 3 different items) but this game is going to be awesome and I'm going to play the hell out of it.
