Fans of Toriyama’s work will be pleased to hear that he’s created a brand new IP called Sand Land. The game was officially unveailed at Summer Game Fest 2023. Take a look at the trailer below.

For those that know a thing or two about Akira’s work history, they may recognize the name. As pointed out by Mari Takahashi on Twitter, Sand Land was actually a Shonen manga published in 2000. It looks like Toriyama is reimagining the manga as a video game.

While not a whole lot was shown in the trailer, what we did get to see was the cell-shaded art style, some explosive combat using powers and tanks, and the sprawling desert world. Be sure to check out Summer Game Fest 2023 wrap-up article for a look at everything else announced at the event.
