Gran Turismo 7 announced for PlayStation 5

The next installment in the hallowed racing series for PlayStation is headed to the PlayStation 5.

Gran Turismo 7 was officially announced for PlayStation 5 during today's "The Future of Gaming" stream. Get ready to race around the track with unprecedented realism, or at least that's the feeling this particular trailer gave me. 

The latest game in Polyphony Digital's racing series is looking quite souped up, and it's really revving our engines. Sony didn't announce a release date during its brief reveal at the PlayStation 5 "The Future of Gaming" event, but it certainly looks like it's going to rock racing fans' worlds. How long has it been since you've gotten to tear up the track in a realistic racing game that wasn't Forza? Long enough.

We were shown a variety of looks into the cars themselves in the game as well as cockpit view, which has us ready to jump in and zoom away.

The previous Gran Turismo launched three years ago on PlayStation 4 in the form of Gran Turismo Sport. It's been seven years since Gran Turismo 6 debuted on PlayStation 3 in 2013. We'd say it's high time we got our race on once more.

Here's hoping there's some sort of release date in the near future, because this game has our hearts positively racing. Get it? That's a joke. Our brains are fried, never mind.
