Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 1 kicked off today, bringing players a new map and tons of new features to take advantage of. One of the most intriguing additions to the game is the Fishing Rod, an item that can be used to catch different things in the game. In this guide we'll talk about how to get the Fishing Rod, as well as go over everything you need to know to fish in Fortnite Chapter 2.

How to fish in Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 1

Before you can fish, you're going to need to find yourself a Fishing Rod. This item can be found around a few different areas, and we really haven’t had a hard time getting our hands on them. You can clearly see what Fishing Rods looks like when you approach them, and they’ll even often be found bunched up inside a barrel next to smaller lakes or river areas.

Once you’ve managed to find a Fishing Rod, keep in mind it will take up a weapon slot. But why exactly would you want to fish in Fortnite? Well, fishing allows you to pick up items like guns and cans, which you can then use to defeat your enemies. To fish, equip the Fishing Rod and find some water nearby. Lakes and rivers work the best, but smaller ponds can also hold some useful secrets.

When you’re ready, use the shoot button to toss your Fishing Rod’s line out into the water. Now you need to wait until the line dips. When this happens, press the fire button again to reel in the line and grab whatever you caught. The thing here is that you can really catch a multitude of items from cans to shotguns and even assault rifles, so if you’re struggling for weapons or items, fishing can be a fruitful way to grab something really quickly.
