Currently under maintenance error in Mario Kart Tour

Mario Kart Tour is finally here but players are encountering a maintenance error when trying to load up the game.

Anyone that’s trying to play Mario Kart Tour right now is likely encountering the error: currently under maintenance. This is certainly problematic, especially given that there’s a lot of racing that needs to be done! So let’s dive in and figure out if this is a problem on your end or whether Nintendo is working on something in the background.

Currently under maintenance – Mario Kart Tour

Mario Kart Tour launched with a New York City race event, but a maintenance window has delayed the race. While the game is currently under maintenance and offline, players will be unable to participate in racing, compete with their friends, or otherwise experience what’s on offer in-game.

There are a few things you can do to figure out if the service is offline or if you’re experiencing troubles on your end. First, you will want to check the Nintendo Network Maintenance page. This site will tell you of any current, planned, or upcoming network outages. If none are listed, that doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong on your end.

Secondly, when a game is first released, there can be a period of bumps where servers undergo a lot of stress as players try to login and play. In the case of Mario Kart Tour, it’s highly likely the servers are offline and being repaired, upgraded, or otherwise improved. This may not be reflected on the support page above.

In the event you’re unable to connect for an extended period of time, you should attempt to reset your device. Try switching your mobile device off for a few minutes, then turn it back on. You can also try uninstalling the game and downloading it again. Sometimes doing either (or both) of these is enough to fix any problems.
