How to save BowWow from Moblins - Link's Awakening

Learn how to save Madam MeowMeow's dog, BowWow from greedy Moblins in Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch.

After completing the trials of Tail Cave, players will find themselves returning to Mabe Villager to learn that greedy Moblins have dognapped BowWow, the trusty hound that resides outside of Madam MeowMeow’s house. In this guide, we’ll teach you where to find BowWow and how to save it from the terrible Moblins that have taken it hostage.

How to save BowWow from Moblins - Link's Awakening

As it turns out, BowWow is actually a key part of progressing through to the next dungeon that players need to reach, so you’ll want to save him along the way.

To save BowWow, head out of Mabe Village via the Mysterious Forest. Once you reach Koholint Prairie, use the Roc’s Feather to jump over the holes surrounding a Heart Piece and then continue northbound to Tal Tal Heights. Now that you’re in Tal Tal Heights, head eastward and you should spot the entrance to the Moblin cave along the cliffside. It’s pretty tough to miss.

To save BowWow, all you’re going to need to do is head inside and take out the Moblins that have kidnapped him. This is, of course, easier said than done if you don’t know what you’re doing. The first room contains a Moblin you’ll need to defeat. Just make use of your Shield and hold R until you can counterattack. This should allow you to easily defeat the Moblin. Continue through the cave until you finally meet a massive, red Moblin boss.

Defeating the Moblin boss is all about patience and dodging. First, keep your Shield held high using R. This will block any incoming attacks the Moblin boss throws at you. What you want to do here is wait until the red Moblin beats its chest. This signals that it is going to charge you. Wait until the last possible moment and then move out of the way, letting the Moblin run headfirst into the wall. When it hits the wall, it will fall to the ground, stunned. Now is your chance to attack.

Continue dodging the charges and hitting the Moblin while it is stunned until it perishes, revealing the way forward. Continue into the next room and you’ll find BowWow chained to a rock. Approach the pup to free it. Once you exit the cave the Owl will fly down again and tell you to head on over to Gopongo Swamp to continue.
