If you’re planning on diving into the newest iteration of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening on the Nintendo Switch, then you’re going to find quite the adventure waiting for you. In the new version, players can find over 50 of these collectibles, called Secret Seashells, which are littered throughout the world of Koholint Island. In this guide we’ll tell you how to find each one, as well as discuss what these collectibles do in Link’s Awakening.

What are Secret Seashells for?

Secret Seashells are a collectible that players can find and collect in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening on the Nintendo Switch. Much like the Heart Pieces that you find scattered across the island, Secret Seashells play a vital part in upgrading the main character, Link.

After being collected, players can make their way to the Seashell Mansion, where they can turn in their Secret Seashells for upgrades like more Heart Pieces, increased damage to their sword, and tons of other rewards. As we stated above, there are 50 Secret Seashells to find in the Nintendo Switch version of Link’s Awakening, and this guide will act as a work in progress as we search the nooks and crannies of Koholint Island to find them all.

Secret Seashell locations - Link's Awakening

We’ve tried to keep our Secret Seashell locations in order based on when you can find them in a normal playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. However, you might find some that we’ve listed before you find others, depending on how you play through the game, and which areas you explore first.

Secret Seashell #1 – Mabe Village

Just north of the Trendy Game hut in Mabe Village, players can cut down a ton of bushes to discover the location of one of the first Secret Seashells we have discovered in Link’s Awakening.

Secret Seashell #2 and #3 – Trendy Games hut

Visit the Trendy Games hut in Mabe Village and play through the game to win two Secret Seashells. If they don’t appear for you, just keep playing until they do.

Secret Seashell #4 – Tail Cave dungeon

After you unlock the Bomb upgrade, head to Tail Cave dungeon in Toronbo Shores and use a bomb on the cracked wall on the left-hand side of the long room in the center of the dungeon. This will reveal a room with a chest containing this Secret Seashell.

Secret Seashell #5 – Toronbo Shores

Once you’ve acquired the Shovel, head down to Toronbo Shores, where you found Link’s sword. Dig up the sand to the left of where you found the sword to find this Secret Seashell.

Secret Seashell #6 – Martha’s Bay

When you’ve obtained the Power Gauntlet, head to Martha’s Bay and look for the small hut. Head inside and break the pots on the right to find this Secret Seashell.

Secret Seashell #7 – Mysterious Forest

While using the shovel, dig up the dirt in the middle of the patch of blue flowers in the Mysterious Forest. Doing so will reward you with a Secret Seashell.

Secret Seashell #8 – Mysterious Forest

After obtaining the Power Gauntlet, head to the Mysterious Forest and lift up the rock to the south of the forest. This will reveal a chest with this Secret Seashell inside.

Secret Seashell #9 – Tal Tal Heights

Using the Power Gauntlet, lift up the rocks near the sign in the upper left-hand corner of Tal Tal Heights. This will reward you with a Secret Seashell to add to your collection.
