Complete your Obsidian ship set in Sea of Thieves by unlocking the time-limited Obsidian cannons for use on your vessel!

In celebration of Talk Like a Pirate Day, players will be able to unlock the Obsidian cannons in Sea of Thieves. This is a great opportunity to add one more piece to the Obsidian ship set. Be aware, these sleek black armaments are currently a limited-time offering, so you will need to get in quick!

How to get the Obsidian cannons

Unlocking the Obsidian cannons in Sea of Thieves requires having a Twitch account. The reason for this is that, much like the other Obsidian ship cosmetics, getting the cannons is currently only possible by watching streamers through Twitch.

Sea of Thieves Obsidian cannons
The Obsidian cannon is just one more piece of the Obsidian ship set that Sea of Thieves players can unlock - though it is a limited-time cosmetic.

Firstly, you will obviously need a Twitch account. You can sign up for a free account by heading to the Twitch Sign Up page. Once that is completed, you can follow these steps to unlock the Obsidian cannons:

  1. Go to seaofthieves.com
  2. Sign in to your Microsoft/Xbox account in the top-right corner
  3. Click the profile picture in the top-right corner and select Account
  4. Scroll down to the Twitch Drops section
  5. Link your Twitch account using the button provided
  6. Watch 30 minutes of any of the streamers listed on the Twitch Drops page during the times listed below
  7. Check in-game to find your new Obsidian cannons

You will need to watch 30 minutes of any of the listed Twitch streams anywhere between 5AM ET on September 19th to 5AM ET on September 20th. Once you have watched enough (we recommend leaving a stream on for a while), you should be able to find your Obsidian cannons in-game. Though they should unlock fairly quickly, keep in mind that previously there has been reports of delays with these kinds of rewards.

The Obsidian cannons can also be earned by watching the official Sea of Thieves stream between 12PM and 2PM ET on Thursday September 19th. Much like the other streams, you will need to watch it for 30 minutes. It’s important to note that it doesn’t have to be 30 minutes on a single stream, you can hop across streams to check out what others are doing – it will all add to your total.

Once this special celebration has ended, the Obsidian cannons will get locked away for the next special Sea of Thieves event. Players that are lucky enough to unlock the cannons will still be able to access them from in-game, but players that missed out will have to wait a while. Sail over to the Shacknews Sea of Thieves guide page for more information on how to unlock other exclusive ship sets!
