How to get Ancient Coins in Sea of Thieves
Fill your coffers with Sea of Thieves' new currency, the Ancient Coin, for use in the Pirate Emporium.
Ancient Coins is a new currency added to Sea of Thieves with the Pirate Emporium update. This is a premium currency that players can purchase with their real-world cash and exchange it for various cosmetics. There is more than one way to get Ancient Coins in Sea of Thieves, so those who don’t want to burn a hole in their pocket have another, slightly less efficient way of acquiring this new currency.
How to get Ancient Coins
The best way to get Ancient Coins is to purchase them from the Sea of Thieves storefront using real-world money. Depending on your region, the price of each Ancient Coin bundle will vary. You can check further below for a breakdown of the prices.
Buying the Ancient Coins means you can immediately get to purchasing the various cosmetic goodies on offer. There are a whole lot of items in the Pirate Emporium, including pets, emotes, and ship cosmetics.
However, there is another way to get Ancient Coins, and that’s by killing Ancient Skeletons.
These new skeletons are blue and gold, and carry a large sack of Ancient Coins on their back. Killing one rewards players with a small sum of Ancient Coins. However, the problem is trying to find an Ancient Skeleton. This is mainly a nice little bonus for those players who happen across one in the wild and shouldn’t be relied on as a means of saving for a new pet.
Ancient Coin prices
As mentioned above, the best way to get Ancient Coins is to buy them using money. Below is a list of the various bundles of Ancient Coins you can purchase and their USD price point.
- Secret Stash of the Ancients (150 Ancient Coins) – $1.99
- Lost Chest of the Ancients (550 Ancient Coins) – $5.99
- Hidden Trove of the Ancients (1000 Ancient Coins) – $9.99
- Royal Treasury of the Ancients (2550 Ancient Coins) – $22.99
- Glittering Tribute of the Ancients (4250 Ancient Coins) – $34.99
Buying the large pack is the best value for your dollar (the Glittering Tribute of the Ancients). Each coin works out to be 0.82 cents (just below 1 cent) whereas if you buy the 150 Ancient Coin bundle each coin works out to 1.32 cents (a little over 1 cent). For players looking to just pick up a pet, the $5.99 bundle is going to be the most attractive option.
It’s worth browsing the Pirate Emporium store to see what’s on offer. Tally up the Ancient Coin cost of everything you want and then go from there.
Getting Ancient Coins in Sea of Thieves is as simple as purchasing them from the Pirate Emporium. The larger the bundle of coins, the better value for money. It’s worth noting that you can also earn Ancient Coins by killing Ancient Skeletons, though this proves to be a challenge and not really an efficient means of getting more coins.
