Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey trailer breaks down evolution

How will your apes evolve over time when you get your hands on the game? Here's how it will work.

Curious about the major mechanics of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey and how they all fit together to make the unique upcoming game?

Check out the final episode of the final episode of their three-part video series about Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, including Patrice Désilets and the evolution mechanics in-game.

You can also check out the new episode of the "Experience" series, where you can hear Patrice Désilets chat about exploring the game's various unique concepts with experts in concepts outside of the gaming world, such as Canadian rock climber Alannah Yi about using motor skills like those our ancestors did to overcome difficult climbing challenges. There will be more videos popping up over the next few weeks. 

Previously, Ozzie Mejia went hands-on with the game. Here's what he thought about his time with it.

"Evolution is a slow process and so too is Ancestors. Desilets estimates that the game will run about 50 hours, depending on the player. Beyond the initial challenge of helping the species thrive, advanced players can eventually open up a separate Survival Mode, which will drop players in a random spot on the African continent. To further add to the challenge, players can turn off the HUD and tutorial notes entirely and just follow their instincts."

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in December 2019 and will debut on PC via the Epic Games Store on August 27.
