How to transfer your Destiny 2 account to Steam
Learn how to transfer your Destiny 2 account to Steam from Blizzard's Battle.net.
With the release of Destiny 2 on Steam, players will be given a one-time opportunity to transfer their Destiny 2 accounts to Steam. This is a simple process, though considering the hundreds of hours players have poured into their accounts, it’s no surprise that it’s a bit nerve-wracking. The team at Bungie have worked hard to ensure the process of linking and migrating your account to the new platform is stress-free and easy.
How to transfer Destiny 2 account to Steam
Beginning August 20, players will be able to transfer their Destiny 2 accounts from Blizzard’s Battle.net to Steam. This is a one-time offer that will migrate all content to the new platform. The purpose of this is to prepare for the release of Shadowkeep on October 1, at which point Destiny 2 will become unavailable on Battle.net. Follow the below steps to transfer your Destiny 2 account to your Steam account:
- To start the Destiny 2 account transfer to Steam, go to Bungie.net and click the red bar at the top or go directly to the PC Move page.
- Click the button on-screen and confirm your email address
- Review the information about your Battle.net account, including your Guardians and game content
- Scroll to the bottom of the Transfer Agreement and click Accept
- Note: If thise step does not work, try using a different browser or mobile device
- Click Link Steam to be taken to a Steam sign-in page
- Sign-in to your Steam account
- Select I’m Done! to complete the Destiny 2 account transfer to Steam
When Destiny 2: Shadowkeep launches on October 1, you will now be able to play it on Steam, provided you have it purchased.
For those that do not have a Steam account, the first thing you are going to wait to do is create a Steam account. For the vast majority of PC players, this will be a given, but if you’re new to PC gaming, you might not have one yet. You should also make sure to setup two-factor authentication.
- Sign up for a Steam account (it’s free)
Still assuming you’re new to Steam, you will then want to download the Steam client by clicking the green box at the top of the page that says, Install Steam. For the uninitiated, Steam is similar in function to Blizzard’s Battle.net.
At this point, you should now have both Steam and Battle.net installed. With the account created and Steam installed, you can follow the above steps to complete the Destiny 2 account migration.
What gets transferred to Steam?
As mentioned in the introduction, we’ve all spent hundreds if not thousands of hours playing Destiny 2. With that time comes a lot of things, specifically loot. When you transfer your account to Steam, everything will come with you:
- Weapons and armor
- Cosmetic items like Ghosts, Sparrows, emblems
- Triumphs
- Silver and Bright Dust
- Expansions, Annual Pass, DLC
Everything that you had while you were playing on Battle.net will come with you to Steam. The only thing that likely won't make the transfer is your friends list. You will need to find and add your friends on Steam if you want to communicate with them outside of Destiny 2's in-game chat.
Once you know how to transfer your Destiny 2 account to Steam, and the process is complete, you can get back to the grind. Be sure to check out the Shacknews Destiny 2 guide for even more walkthroughs about the various systems and mechanics in Destiny 2.

On October 1, 2019:
All Eververse armor (new and armor you’ve already acquired!) is being converted into Universal Ornaments
Universal Ornaments can be attached to any newly acquired Legendary armor
Bright Dust is going to come from doing bounties, not dismantling things you spent money on
Eververse items can now be pulled from your Collections with Glimmer/Legendary Shards instead of Bright Dust
Before October 1, 2019:
Dismantle all of your unused Eververse items to maximize your Bright Dust reserves
Thanks for the link!

Bright Dust will no longer be acquired from Tess' engrams, it will now be acquired through completing activities.
If you want to stockpile a bunch of Bright Dust, you can use a program like DIM to search everything you own to see if it breaks down into Bright Dust. (Source:eververse iirc).
Doing this lets you enter Shadowkeep with a bunch of Bright Dust.
