Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players were in for a surprise this morning, as the new Dragon Quest Hero was both detailed and added to the game day, as well as a series of other changes by way of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Patch 4.0 update.

Masahiro Sakurai was on hand to discuss the specifics in today's presentation. One interesting new addition is a time limit which will be added to your Final Smash meter. This means you won't be able to just hold onto it and wait things out, and will instead have to go ahead and unleash it when you earn it to make for less stagnant matches between players. It's very much a move that might frustrate some players, but its benefits are obvious.

There's also a new Online Tourney mode that's been added for competitive play, which will offer special rule sets from time to time to keep things fresh. If you're more into just playing through Adventure Mode, the game sees you – and it's adding a new Very Easy difficulty. That way you can breeze through without getting so frustrated – because you know we've all been there, rage-quitting and nearly throwing a controller at some point.

Just like to watch? You can do that too, with the new Spectate Mode. You can watch various matches, and earn rewards for predicting the correct winner. When you guess correctly, you'll earn tokens for doing so. With these tokens, you can pick up a set of goodies of your choice. Finally, sharing functions have been tweaked, giving you the ability to add screenshots to video clips for better breakdowns of those sick moves you want to share.

This all comes with the Hero character, who you can buy for $6 or you get with the Fighter's Pass with five characters for $25. We'll be getting Banjo-Kazooie later this fall, so if you're already jonesing for a new fighter, be patient. Your time will come.
