Such is the case with the Shell Jump, a useful maneuver that can help players get out of a tough situation or advance past seemingly insurmountable objects. The move takes some finesse, which is why the one and only Grand POOBear has stepped in to give players the low-down on how to Shell Jump in Super Mario Maker 2.

Super Mario Maker 2 | How to Shell Jump

Learning how to Shell Jump in Super Mario Maker 2 is easy with the help of Grand POOBear. Not only does he explain how it works, but he's also created a level (which can be seen in the video below) that demonstrates how to perform a Shell Jump properly in a variety of different circumstances.

There are two main ingredients to the action: A shell and a wall. Since the Shell Jump is needed to help players reach heights that can't be reached through normal jumps, the process typically involves flicking a shell against a wall and jumping off of it while it's still midair.

1. First, grab a shell and be sure to hold onto it.
2. With a wall nearby, jump into the air and throw the shell against the wall.
3. After the shell rebounds from the wall, jump up again to meet it midair. If performed properly, the character will bounce off the top of the shell, effectively doubling the jump height.
