New Super Monkey Ball looks like a Banana Blitz remake

The previously-rumored Super Monkey Ball game could very well be a remake of the Wii title.

It looks like Super Monkey Ball is finally back, and it'll be coming to Nintendo Switch PlayStation 4, and PC. But thanks to a series of images debuted via Famitsu, it looks like it's not a new game after all, and instead a potential remake of the 2006 Wii title Banana Blitz.

It's currently set for release in Japan on October 31, and there's a December debut planned for the PC version. While there hasn't been any sort of confirmed announcement for a Western version just yet, it certainly seems as though it's likely in the cards, though Sega hasn't commented on the matter so far.

This news all stems from a listing from Taiwan's Digital Game Rating Committee . An unannounced game called Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball showed up there. The name's "Tabeogoro" term loosely translates to "ready to eat," which could definitely point to bananas, right? So a Banana Blitz remake makes perfect sense.

There hasn't been an official Super Monkey Ball game since Super Monkey Ball Bounce came to Android and iOS devices in 2014. At least before that, Sega released Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz for PlayStation Vita in 2012, which meant another handheld entry for the series. Then Super Monkey Ball 3D for Nintendo 3DS emerged in 2011, and Super Monkey Ball: Step and Roll for Wii in 2010. But it's been nearly ten years now since we got a new entry, which means Sega needs to step up.

Now that Famitsu has commented on the matter, however, it certainly looks to be a real thing. We can't wait to see what this new vision of Monkey Ball will end up looking like.
