Shack's Arcade Corner: Sunset Riders

Greg is back with another look at an all-time great arcade game. Please take a look at our Sunset Riders episode.

This week on Shack's Arcade Corner, we take a look back at Sunset Riders. The game hit U.S. arcades in 1991 and was developed and published by Konami. Sunset Riders was a run-n-gun shooter with four selectable characters. The game also featured some mild platformer gameplay and even pseudo-first-person bonus levels.

Players could fire their weapons in eight different directions and playable characters had different guns. Sunset Riders featured some epic boss fights alongside different levels and enemies. There are even parts where players have to avoid being trampled by livestock.

There was a wide variety of Western-themed levels for players to experience, and the game had some amazing music. There was even some heavily modulated voice work in the game. The game was ported to a lot of different consoles, but the arcade version holds a special place in our hearts. Please take a look at the video to find out even more about the arcade classic Sunset Riders.
