Pinnacle weapons, as the name suggests, are the ultimate endgame weapons in Destiny 2. These weapons are the cream of the crop, offering some of the best perks in the game. But unlocking Pinnacle weapons isn’t easy, as they require a lot of time, a lot of kills, and sometimes a lot of skill.

For those players that want everything Destiny 2 has to offer, unlocking all the Pinnacle weapons (or just those that suit your style) is going to be an important goal. Below are all the Pinnacle weapons currently available in Destiny 2, a brief overview of how to get them and a description of what makes them so good.

As of the release of Shadowkeep, Bungie is no longer adding new Pinnacle weapons to the game. Instead, Ritual weapons are the new must-have weapons. Check out our guide on all Ritual weapons in Destiny 2 so you can stay competitive!


All Pinnacle weapons in Destiny 2

There are more than a dozen Pinnacle weapons in Destiny 2, and the list is continually growing. Unlocking these is going to take a lot of effort and time. Use the links below to jump to the Pinnacle weapon you wish to get in Destiny 2 and to learn about its perks:

A lot of the Crucible weapons require you to earn Glory Ranks, so familiarize yourself with the point system and leveling before you embark.


Warmind Pinnacle weapons

Warmind was the first time players were introduced to the idea of a Pinnacle weapon, and it was only available through Competitive Crucible.

Redrix’s Claymore

The first of the Pinnacle weapons was Redrix’s Claymore, a powerful Pulse Rifle which very few players ever managed to unlock. This now unavailable weapon was a reward for reaching the Fabled rank in Competitive Crucible which at the time was extremely difficult thanks to loss streaks.

Redix’s Claymore perks:

  • High-Impact Frame
  • Chambered Compensator / Corkscrew Rifling / Polygonal Rifling
  • Outlaw
  • Desperado (Reloading while Outlaw is active increases rate of fire)

Destiny 2: Forsaken (Season 4)

Destiny 2: Forsaken upped the ante in both story and in terms of Pinnacle weapons. Players could now earn Redrix’s Broadsword as well as Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten, twin Hand Cannons with different stats.

Redrix’s Broadsword

Redrix's Broadsword
Redrix's Broadsword is the Year 2 version of Redrix's Claymore, and it's significantly easier to unlock.

Redrix’s Broadsword, much like its predecessor Redrix’s Claymore, is a Pulse Rifle that is unlocked by completing the quest “Orientation” for Lord Shaxx:

  1. 200 defeats
  2. Heroic Valor Rank
  3. 75 Double Plays
  4. 150 Pulse Rifle precision final blows
  5. 50 kills with Arc, Solar, and Void
  6. 25 matches in Quickplay, Competitive, and Rumble
  7. 20 Crucible bounties
  8. Reset Valor Rank 5 times

Redrix’s Broadsword perks:

  • High-Impact Frame
  • Chambered Compensator
  • High-Caliber Rounds
  • Outlaw
  • Desperado (Reloading while Outlaw is active increases your rate of fire)

Luna’s Howl

Luna's Howl
Despite its recent nerf, Luna's Howl is still a powerful Hand Cannon.

Luna’s Howl is a Hand Cannon that hits like a truck thanks to some incredible stats and powerful perks. To start the quest, visit Lord Shaxx and collect the pursuit, Remembrance:

  1. Complete 10 Competitive Crucible matches
  2. 150 Hand Cannon kills in Competitive
  3. 200 Solar kills in Competitive
  4. 3 Rumble matches
  5. 100 Hand Cannon precision kills in Competitive
  6. Reach Fabled Glory Rank

Luna’s Howl perks:

  • Precision Frame
  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Drop Mag
  • Zen Moment
  • Magnificent Howl (Rapidly landing two precision shots increases the next shot’s damage and range)

Not Forgotten

Not Forgotten
Not Forgotten boasts some impressive range stats, boosting it far above Luna's Howl.

Not Forgotten is the other side of the Luna’s Howl coin. This weapon has the same perks, but slightly different stats. This Hand Cannon can only be unlocked after acquiring Luna’s Howl.

  1. Get kills using Luna’s Howl in Competitive Crucible
  2. Reach Legend Glory Rank

Not Forgotten perks:

  • Precision Frame
  • Extended Barrel
  • Accurized Rounds
  • Zen Moment
  • Magnificent Howl

Season of the Forge Pinnacle Weapons (Season 5)

The Black Armory DLC was the first piece of content in Destiny 2 to add a Pinnacle weapon for each of the three main activities: Vanguard Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit. All three of these weapons are definitely worth unlocking.

Loaded Question

Loaded Question
Loaded Question is a great weapon for clearing groups of adds.

Loaded Question is a Fusion Rifle and one that excels at clearing large groups of enemies quickly. Unlocking Loaded Question is going to take a bit of grinding, but nothing too demanding. Visit Zavala to pick up Countdown to Zero, which requires doing the following in Strikes or Nightfalls:

  1. 500 Fusion Rifle kills
  2. 1,000 Arc kills
  3. 40 Strikes or Nightfalls completed

Loaded Question perks:

  • High-Impact Frame
  • Red Dot 2 MOA
  • Ionized Battery
  • Auto-Loading Holster
  • Reservoir Burst (When the battery is full, your next burst deals additional damage and causes enemies to explode on death)

Breakneck

Breakneck
Breakneck is one of the best Auto Rifles in Destiny 2.

Breakneck is a top-tier Auto Rifle that is unlocked via a Gambit pursuit. This weapon, much like the previous one, is great at add-clear. Visit the Drifter and pick up Before the Storm, which requires completing the following in Gambit:

  1. 500 Auto Rifle kills
  2. 100 Auto Rifle multikills
  3. Defeat 150 challenging enemies
  4. Complete 40 Gambit matches

Breakneck perks:

  • Precision Frame
  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Extended Mag
  • Rampage
  • Onslaught (Rate of fire increases for each stack of Rampage)

The Mountaintop

The Mountaintop
The Mountaintop is currently a top-tier weapon for taking down endgame bosses, though the grind it unlock it is huge.

The Mountaintop is the Competitive Crucible Pinnacle weapon and a rather unique Grenade Launcher. It’s the final Pinnacle weapon from Season 5, but one that performs well in both PVE and PVP. Visit Lord Shaxx and collect the pursuit, The Ascent:

  1. Reach Brave Glory rank
  2. Complete the Triumph “In Pursuit of Honor”
    1. Grenade Launcher final blows
    2. Rapidly defeat enemies with Grenade Launchers
    3. “Calculated Trajectory” Grenade Launcher medals
  3. Reach Fabled Glory rank

The Mountaintop perks:

  • Lightweight Frame
  • Hard Launch / Volatile Launch
  • Spike Grenades / Sticky Grenades
  • Rangefinder
  • Micro-Missile (Fires in a straight line and has a massively increased projectile speed)

Season of the Drifter Pinnacle Weapons (Season 06)

The Joker’s Wild added three more Pinnacle weapons to the mix with two standouts and one under-performing weapon.

Oxygen SR3

Oxygen SR3
Oxygen SR3 is a Scout Rifle and as such fails to reach the standard of other Legendaries.

You’d be forgiven if you didn’t even realize this was a Pinnacle weapon. Oxygen SR3 is a Vanguard Scout Rifle that currently drags behind all other Pinnacle weapons as well as most weapons in general. Hopefully it sees a buff in the future to bring it in-line with the other weapons on this list. Visit Zavala and complete the pursuit, Redeployment, by doing the following in Strikes:

  1. 1,000 Precision final blows
  2. Orbs of Light generates
  3. Strikes and Nightfalls completed

Oxygen SR3 perks:

  • Precision Frame
  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Accurized Rounds
  • Dragonfly
  • Meganera (Dragonfly deals more damage based on the number of precision hits dealt beforehand)

21% Delirium

21% Delirium
21% Delirium is one of the best Machine Guns in the game at the moment, and it's fairly simple to acquire.

21% Delirium is a Machine Gun and is the Gambit Pinnacle weapon. Visit Drifter and start the Pursuit, By Your Bootstraps. This quest has you completing the Triumph, Notorious Hustle, which requires the following be completed in Gambit:

  1. 75 multikills
  2. Defeat Envoys and Primevals
  3. Reset Infamy rank

21% Delirium perks:

  • Rapid-Fire Frame
  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Extended Mag
  • Overflow
  • Killing Tally (Kills increase damage until stowed or reloaded)

The Recluse

The Recluse
The Recluse is a top-tier weapon in both Crucible and endgame content, definitely worth the grind.

The Recluse is currently a top-tier weapon in both PVE and PVP, despite being the Competitive Crucible Pinnacle weapon. The quest for unlocking The Recluse begins by visiting Lord Shaxx and collecting the pursuit, From the Mouths of Babes. This pursuit requires you to complete the Triumph, The Stuff of Myth:

  1. Win matches in Crucible
  2. Reach Fabled Glory rank

The Recluse perks:

  • Lightweight Frame
  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Ricochet Rounds
  • Feeding Fenzy
  • Master of Arms (Kills with any weapon improve this weapon’s damage for a short time)

Season of Opulence Pinnacle Weapons (Season 07)

Penumbra added three more Pinnacle weapons into the mix and this time it’s the Gambit and Crucible weapons that lag behind in usefulness. However, even an average Pinnacle weapon is still better than a lot of other options.

Wendigo-GL3

Wendigo GL3 is one of the best Grenade Launcers in Destiny 2, capable of melting bosses.

The Wendigo-GL3 is a Grenade Launcher rewarded by Zavala for completing A Gift for the Worthy. This is an extremely long quest, but there is a way to cheese Wendigo-GL3.

  1. 1,500 Grenade Launcher final blows
  2. 500 Grenade Launcher multikills
  3. Earn points by defeating enemies

Wendigo-GL3 perks:

  • Adaptive Frame
  • Smart Drift Control
  • Blinding Grenades
  • Auto-Loading Holster
  • Explosive Light

Hush

Hush
Hush is an interesting bow that may appeal to a select few players.

The Pinnacle weapon for Gambit is Hush, a Combat Bow. Unlocking this bow requires a lot of bow kills in Gambit, which could be a bit of a struggle. It’s worth trying to get Le Monarque, as this will greatly improve your ability to get kills. To start this quest, visit Drifter and collect the pursuit, Hush, Little Baby:

  1. 1,000 Bow final blows
  2. 500 Bow precision kills
  3. Earn Gambit medals

Hush perks:

  • Precision Frame
  • Natural String
  • Straight Fletching
  • Opening Shot
  • Archer’s Gambit (Hipfire precision hits grant a massive draw-speed bonus for a short duration)

Revoker

Revoker
Revoker's perk makes it a viable option in Crucible, as missing a shot won't leave you without ammo.

The last Pinnacle weapon added in Season of Opulence is Revoker, a Crucible sniper rifle. To unlock Revoker, visit Lord Shaxx and collect the pursuit, In Your Sights:

  1. 300 Sniper Rifle final blows
  2. 50 Sniper Rifle precision kills
  3. 3,500 Glory earned

Revoker perks:

  • Aggressive Frame
  • Extended Barrel
  • Accurized Rounds
  • Snapshot Sights
  • Reversal of Fortune (Missing a shot returns the bullet to the magazine after a short duration)

The Pinnacle weapons are Destiny 2’s greatest guns, outside of Exotics, specific Legendary guns, and odd or quirky outliers.
