The Nintendo E3 2019 press conference was full of surprises, like the Contra Anniversary Collection. This bundle of Contra titles was revealed in a side snippet after Contra Rogue Corps and was announced it would be releasing today, June 11.

The Contra Anniversary Collection includes various versions of Contra that were released in different regions.

The Contra Anniversary Collection is no doubt going to be a hot ticket item for many old-school fans of the infamously challenging series. This collection contains 10 of the best Contra titles, with the likes of the original Contra, Operation C, and Contra: Hard Corps headlining the collection. From the Steam page:

  1. Contra (Arcade)
  2. Super Contra
  3. Contra (NA)
  4. Contra (JP)
  5. Super C
  6. Contra III: The Alien Wars
  7. Operation C
  8. Contra Hard Corps
  9. Super Probotector Alien Rebels
  10. Probotector

But the Contra Anniversary Collection offers more than just the 10 titles as it also comes with a 74-page ebook. This book will contain concept documents and sketches, the chronology of this long-running series, and interviews with the producer of Contra.

Though it was announced through the Nintendo E3 2019 press conference, the Contra Anniversary Collection is also available through Steam. There’s currently no word as to whether this collection will also be available through the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

This collection isn’t the only Contra content coming out, as Contra Rogue Corps was just announced for the Nintendo Switch. This is a new take on the iconic series and it was all revealed in a high-octane trailer. Judging by the trailer, it looks like players will be able to take on the role of some classic characters as well as a few new entrants.

So far, E3 2019 has been the biggest E3 event yet, with hundreds of games announced across half a dozen or more streams. Keep it locked to Shacknews so you don’t miss out on a single announcement!
