Battletoads gameplay revealed at Xbox E3 2019

Get your couch ready for the epic 3-player co-op in Battletoads!

Battletoads has received its first gameplay trailer at Xbox’s E3 2019 press conference. After being announced at last year’s E3, it's been a long wait to get our first glimpse of what's on offer. The trailer features 3-player co-op as the three iconic characters: Rash, Pimple, and Zitz. Please check out the trailer below!

Battletoads gameplay

The gameplay trailer of Battletoads features chaotic fighting in what appears to be a splitscreen-less co-op experience. This co-operative play is highlighted in the trailer as being traditional couch co-op. Furthering this, the Battletoads Xbox page states that the co-op is “drop-in, drop-out”, which should create an easy multiplayer experience.

In classic Battletoads fashion, this latest entry will include adventure, fighting, and plenty of boss fights. There also seems to be a focus on puzzles and platforming. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Battletoads game if there weren’t incredibly difficult racing sections.

Despite the cartoon art style, the game will be available in 4K Ultra HD on supported platforms and will be part of the Xbox One X Enhanced collection of games.

Battletoads is currently being developed by Rare and Dlala Studios and although it doesn’t have a release date, it is purportedly due out this year. Be sure to check out our video game release schedule for 2019 as we’ll be sure to include Battletoads once it gets an official release date.

Though it doesn’t have a release date, Battletoads will be coming to Xbox Game Pass, which makes the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate even more appealing. Microsoft actually announced a whole tonne of games coming to Xbox Game Pass during the Xbox E3 2019 presentation, including the likes of Gears 5, Blair Witch, and Minecraft Dungeons.
