Nintendo Direct Super Mario Maker 2 live stream
The latest May 15, 2019 Nintendo Direct live streaming event is once again being hosted over on the official Nintendo YouTube channel. Given the wonders of the internet, however, we can save users a few clicks. Gamers can check the latest news and get a more in-depth look at Super Mario Maker 2 in the video embed below.
It should go without saying that Super Mario Maker 2 is one of the most frequently requested games among Nintendo Switch owners. The Wii U original was a fantastic way for players to get their platforming kicks as well as create and share interesting (and often brutally challenging) custom levels.
Given that for all intents and purposes, the Switch is basically an upgraded Wii U, many fans were hoping that Nintendo would port the game over to its newer hardware. Turns out the developers had a better idea: Just make another one. Building on the format from the previous release is a bit of a no-brainer, but we do expect that Nintendo will have made a few tweaks and changes to better suit the title to the Switch hardware.
Don't miss out on the action: Watch the May 15, 2019 Nintendo Direct live stream right here on this page. For more coverage of Nintendo's many games and latest hardware, including news, guides, and more, head on over to the Modojo @ Shacknews homepage.

Here's the details page

Currently only 26 games qualify BUT you don't have to use the voucher immediately, just within the year.
So if you buy SMM2 now and wait for ....say.... Pokemon or Animal Crossing ...(presuming they will be part of this deal...)

It's still extremely limited by comparison. Climbing the walls in the cat suit for example is really no different than the fences in the actual SMW. Actually, there's probably more "depth" to SMW there since you can flip around to the other side. The obstacles sure, but it still doesn't seem interesting enough to devote a whole mode to.
Super Mario Bros. 2 would round out the whole 2D Mario Maker package a lot better imo. I loved that game.

The creator itself looks great, lots of additions and improvements but the sharing stuff seems mostly the same?
And I feel like everyone was wanting or expecting a basic overworld feature or ability to daisy chain a bunch of levels together to share 'worlds', but it looks like a single level only share system again.-

No it couldn't, that's crazy talk.
The number of people who would say "Well I can play these cool Mario levels in Mario Maker 2, might as well skip the new Mario game" is so small as to not be worth thinking about. You gotta remember that most game sales come from people who would never even realize that's a thing.
