How to impale heads in Mortal Kombat 11's Krypt for free

A glitch in the Krypt will allow you to unlock head stands without completing their requirements.

The Krypt in Mortal Kombat 11 is chock full of various surprises and secrets for players to find. You’ll also find various puzzles that you can complete, as well. One of the many puzzles in Mortal Kombat 11’s Krypt challenges players to collect various heads from the game’s impressive roster. While this would normally be tedious, a new glitch/exploit found by Reddit user d1psyyyy allows players to impale heads without collecting them first.

How to impale heads in Mortal Kombat 11’s Krypt for free

In order to pull off this glitch, you’re going to need to load into the Krypt and approach one of the many spikes that align the right-hand wall of the Warrior Shrine (when facing the door that leads down into Goro’s Lair). Approach the first spike and it should pop up a prompt that says LOCKED. When you see this prompt, immediately hit the pause button and back out to the main menu.

Now, to activate the glitch and impale the head without collecting it, you’re going to need to navigate to the Krypt option on the main menu and then select it. After selecting it, immediately hold down the X button on PlayStation 4, A button on Nintendo Switch, E button on PC, or B button on Nintendo Switch. Continuing holding down this key until you load into the Krypt.

From here, you need to navigate back to the spike that you logged out at. You’ll want to be sure to NOT hit any chests on the way, though, as hitting any chests will break the exploit, and you’ll need to restart. Approach the spike that you want to open, and it should automatically trigger a cutscene, impaling that character’s head onto the spike, thus rewarding you with the items inside.

Keep in mind that this is considered an exploit, and while we’ve outlined how to complete the process, we are in no way responsible for any type of punishment that NetherRealm Studios might dish out when they find and patch this glitch. For now, though, you can use the steps above to impale heads without any cost in the Krypt, which is a handy way to unlock some of Mortal Kombat 11's more prestigious rewards.
