How to fix Mortal Kombat 11 crashing at launch on PC

Mortal Kombat 11 released for PC at the same time it released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. While many haven’t had any issues playing the game on their PCs, others have reported the game crashing at launch, or it just not launching at all. If you’re one of these unfortunate souls, then we can help. In the guide below we’ll go over several possible fixes that should help fix Mortal Kombat 11 crashing at launch on PC.

How to fix Mortal Kombat 11 crashing at launch on PC

If you’re experiencing this issue, then believe me, I know how frustrating it can be. Unfortunately, it seems that Mortal Kombat 11 doesn’t exactly play nice with many third-party applications. Apps like MSI Afterburner, SteelSeries Engine, or even other mouse and keyboard software. If you’re experiencing an issue that keeps the game from launching, or if it simply crashes at launch, then you can try disabling these pieces of software to make the game work.

Unfortunately, this won’t fix everyone’s issue. If disabling the various third-party software active on your PC doesn’t fix the issue, then there is another fix you can try.

Make your way to your local folder in %appdata%. To do this you’ll need to have Hidden Files and Folders set to show in Windows settings. You can also make your way to this folder by navigating to C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local. Once here, navigate down to the MK11 folder. Here you’ll find a Usersettings.ini. Open it up using Notepad and look for the lines that read “RGBPeripherals” and “RGBKeyLighting”. Set both of these to off, then exit the file (after saving it) and relaunch Mortal Kombat 11.
