$250 Xbox One S All-Digital Edition announced
The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition is real, and it was just announced today, so if you've been waiting for it, here's your chance to snag it.
It's been rumored for quite some time, and now it's finally made its official debut. Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition today during its Inside Xbox stream.
The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition comes with three games: Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves, and as we already knew, it does not feature a disc drive. It does come with an offer to get started with Xbox Game Pass and unlock over 100 games to flip through in your digital library, but you'll be relegated to playing what's on your hard drive and digital games if you decide to take the plunge with this new system.
"Consumer appetite for digital content and experiences are stronger today than ever before. Gaming and technology have changed quite a bit since the first Xbox debuted in 2001. During this time, we’ve seen a digital transformation across gaming, music, TV and movies. And closer to home, the success of Xbox Game Pass, which gives members access to over 100 great games, is just another example of how consumers today have grown to expect great digital content. The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition was created for those who prefer to find and play their games digitally and are looking for the most affordable way to play Xbox games," said Jeff Gattis, general manager of platform and devices marketing at Xbox.
The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition will be available for pre-order starting today for $249.99. That makes it $50 less than the Xbox One S, and the company "hopes to maintain" the price difference between both consoles going forward. The console will be available via your local Microsoft Store or online, or retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon starting on May.
If you're ready to relinquish your disc tray, this is a decent price, but knocking $50 off of the ability to play physical games doesn't seem like a great incentive. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.

"Relegated to playing games off your hard drive", ummm like every other Xbox One or PS4? None of them play off the disc, they are only install media and it would be slower to load if it did play them from the disc. The whole thing should have been like $149 though to get people into the ecosystem and spending money. $249 is really too much.
