This fan is working on a Star Wars: Dark Forces Unreal remake

This Star Wars: Dark Forces fan is working on an Unreal Engine 4 remake, and it looks like an interesting investment.

Remember Star Wars: Dark Forces? It was a fantastic first-person shooter developers and published by LucasArts back in 1995. It came out for DOS and Mac, and then got a port to PlayStation in 1996.

Now, one stalwart fan is working on a remake in Unreal Engine 4, and it looks awesome. Yes, a fan is taking it upon themselves to make a playable version of Star Wars: Dark Forces using Unreal Engine 4. It's very cool, and looks like something we absolutely want to get our hands on.

Obsidian's Senior Environment Artist Jason Lewis is working on the project, which is crazy, and the early screenshots make it look like an absolutely awesome attempt at bringing the game into the modern age.

BlueDrake42 is the YouTuber that happened upon the cool new project, which he uncovered because Lewis had previously been working on the Star Wars podracing game we reported on recently. He's been giving that game a lot of love too, and we thought it looked positively ravishing.

The demo, which isn't done, takes place in Mos Eisley, and rivals the official Star Wars games out there – just have a look, you won't believe your eyes! It's still in its extremely early stages, and doesn't feature any enemies or fighting in it, but it does let you take in the spaceport and see everything there is to see – which is a lot, if we're being honest.

Of course, this is a fan project without the support of Obsidian, EA, or Disney. You can check out the demo here, but hopefully our reporting on the awesome-looking level doesn't backfire as it usually does and cause the project to have to pull the plug. Give it a look before it's (likely) inevitably gone. It's simply too good not to see.
