Find out how to get the Thorn quest in Destiny 2 and earn the Thorn exotic hand cannon by making your way through the Salt Mines.
This guide will show players how to get the Thorn quest in Destiny 2. This quest line is part of the Season of the Drifter, also known as Joker’s Wild, and upon completion will award players with the Thorn exotic hand cannon. Players from the original Destiny will likely remember it well.
How to get the Thorn quest
To obtain the Thorn quest, head to the EDZ and spawn in at the Trostland region, where players can find Devrim Kay. Instead of visiting Devrim, though, players will want to bring up their map and head for the Salt Mines. These can be found by going in the front door of the church, walking all the way through the building and out the back door, then going straight forward and into the gap in the wall typically guarded by a couple of Fallen. From there, move in the only possible direction until you enter the Salt Mines.
Move through the first section of the Salt Mines until your only options are to take an elevator via the Transmat function, or to turn right and go deeper. You do not want to go deeper. Transmat, finding your Guardian on a path on the side of a cliff. Follow the path forward until you see a barricade the blocks you from going back inside. If you hug the left side of the path, there will be a small opening that you can jump up and into. This will take you through to where you can pick up the quest.
In this area will be a burned-out fire pit with some logs. Approach it and choose the option to Sift through the ashes. This will give players a quest step called A Melted Hunk of Metal, which is the beginning of the quest that must be completed to get the Thorn exotic hand cannon.
