Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter release date and roadmap

Bungie has released a Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter ViDoc and gameplay calendar roadmap offering details about the upcoming season, including its start date, events, weapons, and more.

The Season of the Drifter in Destiny 2 is nearly upon us, and Bungie has finally revealed the latest season's start date. Alongside the previously released gameplay calendar, a new roadmap and ViDoc explain all of the content and changes being offered in the Season of the Drifter, including a look at upcoming events and several powerful new weapons. Read on to learn what the Season of the Drifter is bringing to Destiny 2 and when players can expect the season to begin.


Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter start date and roadmap

Thanks to the newly-revealed Destiny 2 Forsaken gameplay calendar, players now know when to expect the latest in-game events to begin. The Season of the Drifter in Destiny 2 starts on March 15, and will run all the way through May, with an extended final event called The Revelry beginning on April 16 and ending on May 6.

The Season of the Drifter announcement page hosted on the official Bungie blog additionally showcases a roadmap specifically for the Season of the Drifter, with dates and times for a slew of events spread across the two-month period. Gambit Prime events will be hosted on March 12 and March 19, while the free Arc Week kicks off on April 9.

Bungie says that the "Season of the Drifter is only the second of three offerings included in the [Destiny 2] Annual Pass. The Lost Forges will remain in the Director, joined by new activities to call you back starside. On March 5, the extension of the Destiny endgame continues."

The Destiny 2 Forsaken gameplay calendar reaches beyond the scope of the Season of the Drifter to the months that follow. We've technically seen this roadmap before, but considering that it's now been filled out with all of the upcoming season's details, it's worth checking over just one more time.

To get the most out of the Season of the Drifter, players will certainly want to pick up the Destiny 2 Annual Pass. From there, all that players need to do to access the latest season's content visit Xur. Here's an explanation of how to get started with the Season of the Drifter straight from the official Bungie website:

"[Starting on March 15,] Annual Pass owners will be able to pick up an “Invitation of the Nine” from Xûr. Once the objectives are completed, it will transform into a bounty called “Into the Unknown.” These will be available to complete once per character, similar to the bounties you got at the beginning of Forsaken for completing an activity with a full gear set. Week over week, for Nine weeks, you’ll collect new lore and powerful rewards."
