The latest iteration of Pokemon came to Nintendo Switch in late 2018, and Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee were major hits for the platform.

If you still haven't taken Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee for a spin just yet, however, you've got your first real chance to do so for free now. There's a new free demo available for the Switch-exclusive title right now in the Nintendo eShop.

According to Nintendo, the content in the demo version differs from the full version of each game, but there aren't currently any further details as to what may be different. You cannot transfer your demo game data over to the full title if you purchase it, either. So any journeying you do with your favorite partner Pokemon by your side will be lost if you decide to buy in.

The Pokemon: Let's Go series is largely a remake of the original Red and Blue games, with a sprinkling of Pokemon Yellow as well. You'll set off on a quest to become the greatest Pokemon Trainer possible as you square off against other trainers, thwart the evil Team Rocket's plans, and capture Pokemon via motion control. If you get the Poke Ball Plus accessory with the full game, you can "throw" the ball to simulate the experience, but for the demo's sake you can use a Joy-Con to pretend you've tossed a ball at your latest target.

The game also syncs with Pokemon Go via smartphone to bring over Pokemon discovered in the Kanto region, which makes it a boon for fans of the mobile game. There's a lot going on in the Switch version of the massively popular franchise, and this demo is a great way to experience it. If you haven't done so just yet, see if it's your cup of tea with the demo and then be faced with the hardest decision yet: choosing Pikachu or Eevee. You may just end up getting both, much like I did.
