Samsung announces Galaxy Buds Apple AirPods competitor
Samsung's Galaxy Buds are officially coming, and they look like formidable competitors for AirPods.
Samsung took to today's Galaxy Unpacked 2019 live event with a slate of sizzling new product reveals, including the sleek new Galaxy Buds.
In addition to debuting the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Samsung Galaxy S10 phone, the company brought out the manufacturer's answer to Apple's AirPods. The truly wireless earbuds look similar in ways to Samsung models from the past, with some new tweaks to speak of.
Galaxy Buds will offer up to six hours of Bluetooth streaming and five hours of calls. Additionally, their compact case will hold a charge for up to seven hours. It will also offer 1.7 hours of power after a 15-minute quick charge. You can utilize the Buds with wireless charging and device-to-device power sharing as well.
“Consumers are increasingly putting their overall wellbeing at the center of their lifestyle decisions, and they’re looking for wearables that make it easier to get active and stay balanced every day,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. “Everyone has their own way of pursuing their goals. We’re thrilled to introduce our new line of wearables to fit seamlessly into your life and complement your own personal wellness journey.”
The buds do look a bit bulkier than Apple's option, and come in three different colors: White, Black, and Canary Yellow. The Canary Yellow version is pictured above, and as you can see it's quite striking if that's something you're looking for out of your aural tech.
Galaxy Buds are coming to major retailers and Samsung.com for $129.99 beginning March 8. If you pre-order a Galaxy S10 or Galaxy S10+ via Samsung.com, you'll get a free pair of Galaxy Buds with your purchase.
