If you're looking to take the leap from virtual reality to mixed reality, there's a decent deal to pick up right now via B&H Photo Video that you'll want to pay attention to.

B&H Photo Video currently has the Samsung HMD Odyssey+ Windows Mixed Reality Headset (XE800ZBA-HC1US) on sale for $299.99. That's $200 off its normal price at $499.99. Designed from the ground up for Windows Mixed Reality, it's a souped-up headset that features an improvement on the original Odyssey HMD with Samsung's Anti-Screen Door Effect tech. This allows it to deliver over twice the pixel count of the display resolution. Anti-SDE helps to diffuse light that emanates from each pixel and helps make the spaces between every pixel less visible to begin with.

The product specs are as follows:

  • 2880 x 1600 Total Resolution
  • Dual 3.5" AMOLED Displays
  • 110° FOV
  • Integrated Headphones & Microphones
  • AKG 360° Spatial Audio
  • 2 x External 6 DoF Cameras
  • HDMI 2.0 / USB 3.1 Gen 1
  • Anti-Screen Door Effect Technology
  • Two Controllers Included
  • For Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

The built-in AKG-tuned headphones also offer 360-degree surround sound. There's also a microphone on board so you can either chat with your digital assistant Cortana or whoever you're playing games with for the day. If you wear glasses, you'll be pleased to know the Odyssey+ has a wider nose guard and eye box to make things more comfortable as well. There's also special cooling fabric to lessen overheating and lens fogging, which can be a frustrating part of the VR and mixed reality experience.

You can access the SteamVR app or Microsoft Store for a variety of different games and VR experiences if you take the plunge and want to test your new piece of tech out.

You can also purchase the headset right now via Samsung.com, where shipping is free as well. If you purchase from B&H, shipping is expected within 7-14 business days. Opt for Samsung and it should ship by March 1. Thinking about making a purchase? Be sure to let us know how the headset is treating you!
