COD: Black Ops 4 begins Operation Grand Heist this week
Black Ops 4 is discovering the joy of law enforcement, as Activision and Treyarch kick off Operation Grand Heist.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is pushing forward with its next major season of content. This week, Activision and Treyarch are set to kick off Operation Grand Heist, which will feature updates across every facet of the game: multiplayer, Zombies, and Blackout.
As its name might imply, Operation Grand Heist shifts the Black Ops motif ever so slightly. New content will be themed around grand theft and law enforcement weaponry and vehicles. On top of that, there are several new features to observe.
Blackout will receive an all-new Western-themed destination called Ghost Town, featuring two major locations. One is Outlaw, which is inspired by old-school Black Ops II map Standoff. The other is Buried, based on an old Zombies campaign, featuring epic loot being guarded by a horde of the undead. Players will also find new playable structures, along a new Prestige system and some balance tweaks.
The biggest feature doesn't kick in until this Friday, when Blackout players find the new Hot Pursuit mode. Hot Pursuit centers around three new vehicles: the SUV, Muscle Car, and PBR, each with their own distinct abilities. It won't be the last feature, as Treyarch is promising new in-game events and weapons throughout this Operation Grand Heist period.
For those playing classic Call of Duty multiplayer, a new Specialist is making her return from Black Ops III. Outrider brings along a special pilotable drone called the Hawk, which can be placed in strategic positions and tag any hostiles that pass underneath. Those who played the last Black Ops may be familiar with Outrider's Sparrow crossbow, with arrows that detonate on impact, gibbing its targets. Outrider is available to all players who complete Tier 1 of Operation Grand Heist in the Black Market.
Multiplayer users will also find a few new game modes, including One in the Chamber. This returning game mode gives players three lives, along with a pistol with a single bullet. Players are granted another bullet with every successful kill. The shot kills on impact, so make it count. Treyarch is promising additional multiplayer modes and weapons throughout Operation Grand Heist.
Lastly, Zombies players can look forward to a new Death-Con Five Gauntlet in Classified. This scenario sees survivors take on the undead in the middle of the Pentagon. No word on how to pick this up, but there is a note that it will be available for standalone purchase.
All of this is just the beginning, with Treyarch set to explain the whole update on the studio's Twitch channel on Monday at 12PM PT. Operation Grand Heist begins this Tuesday. Those looking for more information on what's coming, including information on the Black Market and Season Pass contents, can check out the Treyarch website.
