Looking to try out Deltarune, the follow-up to the massively popular Undertale? If you hadn't already taken the plunge on PC, perhaps its arrival on Nintendo Switch will change your mind.

Starting today, you can download Deltarune: Chapter 1 on your portable console via the Switch eShop, and take it with you wherever you go. Of course, keep in mind that this is a snippet of a snippet. Deltarune is not a "complete" game, and is in fact a demo for what many believe is indeed Undertale 2, but we're still unsure what part of the game the slice we're able to play now represents. It's considered as more of a spin-off for now.

Players control a human named Kris, who lives in a world where monsters live on the Earth's surface. Kris and classmate Susie end up falling from Earth into the Dark World, and meet a character named Ralsei. It turns out that upon meeting Ralsei, they find out they're "heroes" who are supposed to fulfill a certain prophecy – restoring balance to the world. The game plays much like Undertale, with a top-down perspective and combat that features the ability to "spare" your enemies. The game's goal is really to avoid fights and spare the monsters that attack you, but it can be difficult to do so, especially when Susie often opts to attack instead.

It's also absolutely adorable, in case you weren't aware, something indie developer Toby Fox excels at. Hopefully the fact that the game is now available on Switch will encourage you to get into the Deltarune community. Then, you've got the wide world of Undertale to play as well, and you don't want to miss that. And come on! Deltarune: Chapter 1 is free, at that. Definitely go ahead and grab it. You'll thank us later.
