Yakuza Kiwami stream: Going down for murder
The Shacknews stream team dives headfirst into Sega's new PC version of Yakuza Kiwami. Will The Wolf make it out alive?
The Yakuza series of games has been massively popular in Japan over the last twenty years and has also seen success when it has been brought over to North America. Originally debuted on the PlayStation 2 in Japan, the series has spawned countless sequels and a few remakes. Yakuza Kiwami is a re-imagining of the original game that first appeared in the United States in 2017 for the PS4. After a string of recent successes porting its back catalog to PC, Sega is about to unleash the new PC version of Yakuza Kiwami on Steam this week.
Yakuza Kiwami follows the story of Kazuma Kiryu, a Yakuza lieutenant who opts to take the blame for a murder committed by his friend. After serving many years in prison, Kazuma re-enters society to find that the world changed while he was incarcerated. Kazuma must also find his childhood friend Yumi, who has gone missing.
Today’s Shacknews livestream will show off the new Yakuza Kiwami PC port to see if Sega did the game justice and to see if The Wolf has what it takes to be a Japanese gangster. The fun begins at 3:30 PM EST (12:30 PM PST) on the Official Shacknews Twitch Channel.
