Cinemark and Spaces open new VR experience in Silicon Valley
A new way to experience VR is coming for Cinemark theatergoers in San Jose.
Looking for a way to up your immersion factor when it comes to going to the movies? Cinemark's new virtual reality SPACES Center at the Century 20 Oakridge and XD theater in San Jose, California is open now, and it promises plenty of extra kick to your movie experience.
There's a new Terminator experience coming that will blend 4D effects, 3D face scanning, movement, wind, physical interaction, and social group play together for an interesting mixture of various forms of gameplay. It's meant to feel like you're smack dab in the middle of what's going on up on the screen, which as we all know VR is excellent at facilitating.
“We invite everyone to come check out the Bay Area's very first immersive, VR experience inside a movie theatre. This mixed-reality adventure, in partnership with SPACES, transports thrill-seekers straight from our Century 20 Oakridge and XD location right into the Terminator universe,” said James Meredith, SVP of Marketing and Communications. “At Cinemark, we’re constantly innovating and enhancing the entertainment experience with new amenities, like virtual reality, for our guests to enjoy.”
Four guests at a time can take part in the Terminator experience, which is called Terminator Salvation: Fight for the Future, and is in fact the first AAA movie-themed VR experience the area has boasted thus far. It's also the first type of location-based entertainment that will offer a special highlight video to visitors who can take it home and watch their time with the VR center again and again.
"We’ve found that a lot of people are trying VR for the first time when they visit a SPACES center," said Meredith. "It’s a very comfortable, family-friendly space, like a Cinemark theater. It makes it very easy and affordable to enter, play and see what VR is all about.”
So now let's sit back and wait for these things to come to an area people actually want to live in throughout the rest of the United States, then. You can buy tickets to the VR event via the official SPACES website.
