Xbox Wireless Controller - Sport Red Special Edition announced
Microsoft revealed the second in the Sports Series, the Sport Red Special Edition wireless Xbox controller, and a charging stand.
During the first episode of Inside Xbox for 2019, Microsoft revealed a handful of experiences and a brand spanking new accessory for Xbox gamers. The second in the Sport Series, the company has revealed the new Xbox Wireless Controller - Sport Red Special Edition and it will be available for $69.99 starting March 5, 2019.
The Sport Red Special Edition is inspired by the world of activewear and sports lifestyle, featuring metallic red and silver accents on the front of the controller and a metallic red d-pad. It also has red diamond rubberized grips to increase comfort for long gaming sessions.
If you really like the Sport Red Special Edition's aesthetic and would like an additional accessory for your setup, Microsoft is also offering an officially-licensed Sport Red Special Edition Xbox Pro Charging Stand. The stand includes a battery cover, rechargeable battery, and a 6-foot power cord. It is compatible with all Xbox Wireless Controllers and costs $49.99. Sport Red Special Edition Xbox Pro Charging Stands start shipping out on May 1, 2019.
In some regions, the Xbox Wireless Controller - Sport Red Special Edition comes with 14-day trial memberships for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass. The controller features a 3.5mm headphone jack and can be connected to Windows 10 via Bluetooth if the Xbox controller is your preferred gamepad for PC gaming. The Xbox Accessories App allows gamers to customize the Sport Red Special Edition controller button layout as well. Microsoft also announced the Friends Play Free program for Sea of Thieves and Xbox Game Pass users. With it, friends can introduce the pirate adventure game to their unfamiliar buddies and sail the high seas.
