Retro two-button platformer Necrosphere hits Switch, PS4, and Vita this month
The pared-down and focused platformer Necrosphere is landing on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation Vita this month as Necrosphere Deluxe.
Sometimes simple games are just better, and that fact alone is more than enough reason to get excited about Necrosphere, the upcoming two-button retro-styled platformer from the team at Cat Nigiri. Styled in the old-school fashion by developers who can appreciate gaming's storied heritage, Necrosphere Deluxe is slated to release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and the Nintendo Switch later this month.
According to the Necrosphere page on Steam, the game offers simple two-button-oriented gameplay spread across "at least 2.5 hours" in a campaign that notably contains "NO FILLER." The game is also touted as being "deliciously frustrating," which will likely come as no surprise considering the game's old-school, retro-oriented appeal. Check out the action in the latest Necrosphere Deluxe trailer featured below.
It's worth noting that it's not the base version of the game but instead Necrosphere Deluxe which is coming to Switch, PS4, and Vita later this month. According to a report from Gematsu, the Deluxe version of the game "will feature improve graphics, optimized performance, and additional languages." The Nintendo Switch eShop page for Necrosphere Deluxe also notes the addition of the Terry's Dream bonus level, noting that no progress will be saved within the area.
Fans of portable gaming or any electronic entertainment with clear old-school origins will certainly want to watch for the upcoming release of Necrosphere Deluxe for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch on January 31. It's slated to be sold for just $10, and more information about the game can be found over on the official Necrosphere website.
