It's January and that means Games Done Quick is back for a new year of speedrunning for charity. Awesome Games Done Quick takes place around the start of every January, bringing together the world's top speedrunners to play through the best games of the past and present as quickly as possible. It's a celebration of the speedrunning community and it's players coming together for a good cause.
This year kicks off a new era for Awesome Games Done Quick, as this year's event is being held in an all-new venue. The week takes place from the Marriott Bethesda North Hotel in Rockville, Maryland. They will be raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. There's only one day left and GDQ has raised over $1.25 million. Shacknews is here with one last batch of noteworthy runs that should not be missed.
Before getting into the Day 7 schedule, let's look back at a Day 6 highlight. This Golduck is a jerk.
Here's the full schedule for the final day, taken from the Games Done Quick website, along with a handful of noteworthy runs to check out:

10:23AM - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is another Games Done Quick favorite, but like many of the GDQ staples, it's time to introduce a twist. In this case, it's a low-percent one-hit KO run. The idea here is that everything is an instant kill, from the smallest of rats all the way up to Ganon himself. It's the Dark Souls of Legend of Zelda speedruns, so be sure to catch this one.
5:01PM - Super Mario Odyssey
While Mario games have been run frequently at Games Done Quick events, Super Mario Odyssey is in its relative infancy. While this isn't the game's first Games Done Quick appearance, it is the first time that the event will feature a full-blown Darker Side run. The interest here will be which Moons that Bayleef will opt to take and which ones he'll skip en route to the game's final Darker Side stage that turns the challenge all the way up to 11.
8:45PM - Super Metroid
Super Metroid has made its triumphant return to Awesome Games Done Quick, but there's a bit of a twist this time around. ShinyZeni will be attempting to finish the game in reverse boss order, meaning the tougher baddies are coming up first. As Ridley and Mother Brain await, this final GDQ run will also determine whether the captive animals of Zebes live or die.
Awesome Games Done Quick 2019 wraps up tonight! For more, check out the Games Done Quick website and be sure to watch all of the action from Twitch. Also, be sure to check out our TwitchCon interview with GDQ's Matt Merkle.

Awesome Games Done Quick 2019 is in it's last day, having raised $1,297,000 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation!
AGDQ is a Speedrunning Marathon that will take place January 6-13th, 2019 in Rockville, MD, and is raising funds for the Prevent Cancer Foundation ( https://preventcancer.org/ ).
You can watch on https://gamesdonequick.com/ or on https://twitch.tv/gamesdonequick once it starts, and you can contribute by donating at https://gamesdonequick.com/ or making a purchase from one of their affiliated sponsors such as https://theyetee.com/collections/games-done-quick or https://www.fangamer.com/collections/games-done-quick . Additionally, any Twitch channel subs to GamesDoneQuick or bits donations all go to the charity.
Over 128 games will be played and completed as quickly as possible, including recent games like The Messenger and Dead Cells to classics like Sonic The Hedgehog and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Additionally, they aren't just playing the good games, as it seems that the awful game block returns Thursday morning. They are also returning to having the marathon end with a Super Metroid run. While 128 games may seem to be less than past GDQs, this time they are having some marathon runs, with Final Fantasy IX expected to be finished in under 9 1/2 hours, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD in under 6 hours, Nier: Automata [E] ending in under 4 1/2 hours, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in just over 4 hours.

What is with the screen and name assignment mixups this year? I've missed most runs, but I've seen the setup wrong multiple times. Has it been a consistent issue?
Either they have the screens swapped versus the players on camera, or they have the wrong name on the wrong screen, or they have the same feed going to both screens.
They had multiple things wrong for this quickie world run and the marathon is almost over. -
