Devs celebrate DC Universe Online's 8-year anniversary with free gear

Free players and members alike will get some free items during DC Universe Online's anniversary. Open Episodes return as well.

DC Universe Online has persisted in a turbulent MMO genre for a long time and Daybreak Games is celebrating the game's dedicated community for the 8-year anniversary. Up until January 31, 2019, players that sign into the game will get special in-game gifts and access to Open Episodes.

Every person logging into DC Universe Online during the 8-year celebration will net you a free CR210 Character Advance which comes with new House of El 2019 gear and Episode 30: Earth 3. If you're a paid member, there's a special Member Appreciation Gift Box, which comes with an Artifact Cache, Nth Metal, Marks of Victory, and the new Brainiac Lair Theme. The theme features the updated layout and large room from the Atlantean Lair, Brainiac's Harvester Ship, and some new visuals. If you're not a member yet, you can still sign up before the 8-year anniversary celebration is over and claim the Member Appreciation Gift (one per account).

Throughout, there's an Attack of the Anti-Monitor anniversary event featuring new raids, missions, and rewards. Rewards include, as shared on the official DC Universe Online website, the Clown Prince style inspired by Future Joker.

Open Episodes in DC Universe Online are free access to the many different storylines that have been released for the game. Whether you've purchased the content or not, you'll be able to play the Open Episodes up until January 31, 2019. There are 32 total including 2018's Teen Titans: Judas Contract and Deluge (Atlantis is excluded), so get cracking.

In DC Universe Online, players to align themselves with heroes or villains, fight against classic characters like Joker, Batman, Superman, Brainiac, and more, and level up as you establish your legacy in the world. It's free-to-play and has eight years of content to explore, so give a go if fast-paced action and tales written by DC Comics writers is your cup of tea.
