New Xbox consoles codenamed Lockhart and Anaconda
The new Xbox consoles of the future have some fun codenames that bring Nicki Minaj and Final Fantasy VII to mind.
Microsoft is hard at work on bringing new consoles to eager players around the world, and it seems as though we might have a glimpse at what's to come, thanks to a report from Windows Central.
It appears Microsoft is working on new consoles, codenamed Anaconda and Lockhart. Wait, before you start thinking about butts or Tifa, this is what's going down. The Xbox One X's replacement could potentially come in the form of the Anaconda system, which is said to potentially ship with a solid state hard drive for improvements in frame rate performance as well as graphical and all-round enhancements.
The Xbox system to replace the Xbox One S, however, is supposedly being referred to as the Lockhart, and will up its processing power to match the of the Xbox One X, acting as a cheaper alternative for those who don't want to spend an arm and a leg on what the Anaconda console will come packing.
The report via Windows Central surmises that these models will potentially come to market in addition to the "Scarlett Cloud" Xbox console, the same discloses option players would use exclusively for streaming games via the Xbox Game Pass or some other streaming service that could potentially be revealed further down the line.
Unfortunately, we don't have any concrete details on the matter just yet, but these are certainly interesting developments to discuss, especially given the idea that we could see an even more powerful iteration of the Xbox One X coming further down the line. As more information comes out down the line, we'll make sure you know everything we do about the future of Xbox and Microsoft's slant on gaming. It's sure to be an interesting ride in the next year or so.
