Pokemon Go Winter Wonders update goes live December 18
Pokemon Go's Winter Wonders update is a fun, wintry event that includes Pikachus with Santa hats.
Pokemon Go is welcoming a two-week holiday event with its Winter Wonders update.
The Winter Wonders update is going live tomorrow, December 18, for all Pokemon Go players, and will include some fun extras just in time for the holiday season to kick off.
Players can expect better chances of hatching Pokemon like Smoochum and Azurill from Eggs, as well as opportunities to capture event-themed Pokemon. Monsters originally discovered in Sinnoh will be available as well. The festivities will run from December 18 through January 2, during which special Pikachus will be up for grabs, too. They'll be wearing cute Santa hats, so you won't want to miss them.
There's also the chance for Delibird appearances, and possibly even Shiny versions to boot. As it gets colder outside, you'll see more Ice-type Pokemon showing up as well. If you're more interested in stat bonuses and other rewards, here's what's on offer:
- December 18–22: Double Candy for catching and transferring Pokémon
- December 22–26: Double Stardust for catching Pokémon
- December 26–30: Double XP for catching Pokémon
- December 30–January 2: Incubators are twice as effective
You'll also get one Incubator each day when you spin your first PokeStop Photo Disc of the day, which will be useful given the fact that there are increased hatching stats for Pokemon like Smoochum and Azurill, as previously mentioned. During the event, you'll also get more Pokemon in 7 km Eggs than normal.
On December 18, the game will also be celebrating when more Pokemon originally found in Sinnoh will start showing up. You can look forward to a bunch of new Pokemon in the wild, as well as new monsters that hatch from Eggs. They'll keep showing up even after the holiday event ends on January 2. Time to get out there and get to capturing some Pokemon while that winter chill is still setting in!
