Stardew Valley 1.3 Update brings multiplayer to Switch this week
Stardew Valley 1.3 update is finally letting you play multiplayer with your friends on Switch.
Stardew Valley's 1.3 Multiplayer Update is going liv eon Nintendo Switch this Wednesday, December 12.
An official blog went up on the Stardew Valley website to announce the update's arrival, which will be coming to the North America, European, and Japanese Nintendo eShop regions. Sickhead Games handled the Nintendo Switch port, but Chucklefish's Tom Coxon was on hand to take care of the multiplayer netcode.
The update will include support for 4-player online co-op where you can invite 1-3 friends to join you on the farm as new players starting from scratch, or you can jump into a single-player save you already have. Additionally, the game will feature the Nintendo Switch Online voice chat feature or the chat box with colored text and over 200 custom Stardew Valley emojis for your communication pleasure.
The multiplayer update comes to Nintendo Switch after ConcernedApe, or Eric Barone, broke the new that he is going to begin self-publishing the massively popular farming game in lieu of Chucklefish on on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita beginning December 14. Up next is the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Multiplayer Update, which Barone states he is working with Sickhead Games to get to players as "soon as possible." There's also "more to share" after the Nintendo Switch update is live, so it looks like we could be getting even more Stardew Valley news very soon.
With the holidays gearing up, it's a great time to try out Stardew Valley multiplayer on Switch, especially since you can take it with you throughout all the parties you may attend and make some new Stardew friends along the way. The massively popular farming game is available on just about any platform, so if you haven't tried it by now, well, there's no helping you.
