The Last of Us Part 2 won't appear at The Game Awards 2018
The Last of Us Part 2 is out of the lineup, but will PlayStation be showing off anything else at The Game Awards 2018?
If you're a PS4 owner and were hoping to see some new announcements or at least an update on The Last of Us Part 2 at The Game Awards, you out of luck on at least one of those things. Naughty Dog has confirmed that no new The Last of Us Part 2 information will be shown at The Game Awards 2018.
We’re looking forward to celebrating a year of incredible games at #TheGameAwards this Thursday, however, we won’t have anything new to share from The Last of Us Part II. We’re hard at work and looking forward to revealing more when the time is right! pic.twitter.com/6iP1AA8ncT

This is yet another example of the PlayStation brand fading slightly into the background in regards to appearances at high-profile events. Sony is not hosting the PlayStation Experience this year, stating that the titles that would be shown are already known experiences and don't warrant gathering the fanbase. PlayStation is also skipping E3 for the first time since the event's inception.
You can get a full picture of what Sony has in store for PlayStation 4 owners by taking a look at the 2019 Shacknews Video Game Release Date Schedule, but here are a few highlights of potential 2019 releases:
- Resident Evil 2 Remake
- Kingdom Hearts 3
- Days Gone
- Left Alive
- Beyond Good and Evil 2
- Devil May Cry 5
- Dying Light 2
- Ghost of Tsushima
- The Last of Us Part 2
- Onimusha: Warlords Remastered
- Sable
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Obsidian is one of the confirmed developers showing off something new at The Game Awards and the team is teasing what the new Private Division-published title is via a couple of ads on the official website.
Naughty Dog won't be showing off any new The Last of Us Part 2 gameplay, but that doesn't mean Sony is completely dodging The Game Awards 2018 this week. Ghost of Tsushima could use a new trailer and the company could have something special up their sleeves despite skipping the PlayStation Experience and E3. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
