Obsidian teases new game reveal for The Game Awards 2018
Whatever Obsidian is teasing seems to have a sci-fi setting, which is a departure from the studio's recent releases.
Gaming fans and journalists around the world are expecting some new announcements amoung The Game Award 2018's celebration of previously released games and Obsidian, the team behind Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny, apparently has something in store for us all.
After spotting a tweet on the official Obsidian Twitter account, we took a look at the official Obsidian Entertainment website and ran into an add. After refreshing, another ad is shown and it seems there are only two: One for Spacer's Choice and another for Auntie Cleo's. If you hit "skip", you're treated to an audio clip and a different image. The featured image for this post is the second image for Spacer's Choice. The first images for both and the second for Auntie Cleo's can be below. The reveal will take place at The Game Awards 2018 on December 6, 2018.

The two ads seem to be vendors for whatever title Obsidian is planning to reveal at The Game Awards 2018. "Spacer" is a term used in Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, used to describe the fictional first humans to migrate into space, but that term is likely used sporadically in other science fiction works. The Spacer's Choice ad does seem to, at the least, lean toward a sci-fi setting for a potential title, which is a departure from Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny's dark-fantasy settings.
Via The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley's own Twitter account, we do know that this is the previously announce RPG developed by Obsidian and published by Private Division. Private Division is known for Kerbal Space Program, a space flight sim that's available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Private Division is an indie publishing label from Take Two Interactive.

It was revealed during an X018 live stream that Obsidian Entertainment was acquired by Microsoft, but this may not be a project impacted by that deal in a way that would make it a Microsoft exclusive. We'll know more when The Game Awards 2018 broadcasts live on December 6, 2018.
