Daybreak games hooked Shacknews up with the world premiere of their latest expansion's key art.
Tomorrow Daybreak Games is taking EverQuest 2 players on a brand-new adventure in their 15th expansion for the long-running fantasy MMORPG. Fans will be taken on a quest to bring balance and order to the four elements in EverQuest 2 Choas Descending. According to the press release the new expansion will expand on the game's lore, offer up five new zones to explore, and introduce mercenary gear into the world of EverQuest 2:
- Expanded Lore: Something is throwing the Elemental Planes of Order into chaos! Norrathians return to the planes to restore balance to the planes of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth to uncover a mystery of Celestial proportions.
- Five New Zones: Norrathians will adventure to 29 new individual instances across five new zones including Myrist, Vegarlson, Doomfire, Eryslai and Detroxxulous.
- New Mount Equipment: Players have access to new Mercenary equipment, including a mount equipment feature that is unique to this expansion.
Before tomorrow's launch, the gang over at Daybreak were cool enough to hook us up with some exclusive key artwork to give fans a peek at what sort of creatures they can expect to run into on their journey through the Elemental Planes of Order.
This friendly looking fella seems to be imbued with some serious fire elemental powers and has some very impressive looking horns and armor. He probably has an ironic nickname like "Tiny" or something. Here's to hoping you're strong enough to take him out when Chaos Descending goes live today. EverQuest 2 is available now on PC for the very, very low price of free.

I loved EQ2 and played consistently until Kunark Ascending. Haven’t bothered with the last or this xpac as they’re down to a skeleton dev team with no idea how to progress. You can now literally do billions of DPS because they uncapped a load of stats and have no idea how to reign it in or balance anymore.
This xpac marks the first time I’ve seen entire guilds just not show up at all, so much interest lost.
Shame because I did love it and still get a jonsing to play. So many good memories and some cracking raid encounters.
