FATAL1TY inducted into Esports Hall of Fame at IEM Chicago
The original esports superstar and Quake player extraordinaire was honored with an induction into the Esports Hall of Fame today at IEM Chicago.
Jonathan Wendel, better know as FATAL1TY, is one of the original esports superstars and today he was honored with induction into the Esports Hall of Fame at IEM Chicago. FATAL1TY made his name playing professional Quake back in the old days of PC esports. He said in his induction speech that he will "champion esports" for the rest of his life.

Most of FATAL1TY's victories came in 1v1 deathmatch Quake, Painkiller and UT tournaments, but he did also compete in several team tourneys. His Clan Kapitol team won a Quake 3 Arena title. We chatted with FATAL1TY at the Shacknews World Championship final round earlier this year. He was our special guest commentator during our 1v1 Quake final that saw MegaMoose64 take home $30,000 and my briefcase.
FATAL1TY is a true trailblazer for esports and has continued to remain an ambassador for competitive gaming. In his induction speech, he said he set three goals when he was an aspiring esports player: "Travel overseas to play video games, become a champion, and do it with class." Congratulations, champ. Not too bad for a guy who had to quit sCary's high ping Quake team because his parents grounded him.
