There's no better deal than free, especially when it comes to a classic like Crackdown.

Time to lock and load agents! Today Microsoft has announced that the original Crackdown can now be snagged for free on the Xbox One. The news was announced during the Inside Xbox X018 livestream special to help get players pumped for the upcoming launch of Crackdown 3. Crackdown was originally launched for the Xbox 360 and became a cult favorite in no time due in no small part to it's over-the-top-super-cop exploits.

Players who want to grab their own free copy of Crackdown just need to head over to the Microsoft Store and click on the purchase button. I've personally said that Crackdown is one of my favorite open world environments of all time if you need an endorsement. It's also a good way to prepare yourself for next year's Crackdown 3 launch.

Crackdown is now free for the Xbox One console. Crackdown 3 is set to launch for Xbox One on February 15, 2019.

Sadly, it's not actually available to play on Windows, it only works on the 360 and Xbox One (unless you count XBO system streaming).

But regardless of preferred platform, the price is difficult to argue with. I may just pull my old 360 out of storage for a bit.

The sequel was only fun because it was basically DLC. Same city, some tweaks and new enemies and mechanics to take down bosses. And about half the framerate.
