Assassin's Creed Odyssey bests franchise sales records for current console generation
Everyone wants to hang out with Alexios and Kassandra, it seems.
It looks like the latest Assassin's Creed game is doing excellently right out of the gate. Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed Odyssey has been doing extremely well in early sales numbers. In fact, the game is experiencing the entire franchise's best launch-week performance of the current console generation. Not too shabby, and it's probably all owed to the gripping story of ancient Greece retold with the game's charming protagonists Alexios and Kassandra.
There's more to come from this particular entry, too. “Launch is just the start of this epic journey. We have robust content plans for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that will keep players engaged and exploring the game’s beautiful and compelling world for a long time to come," said Senior Vice President of Sales and marketing Geoffroy Sardin. There's a wide selection of DLC and added content coming for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, so even if you've already seen just about everything the base game has to see, there's still even more from there.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is an interesting twist on the typical Assassin's Creed games, with a voyage through ancient Greece with two protagonists: the male Alexios and female Kassandra, who you can swap between for a relatively similar campaign for each of them. Both are Spartan mercenaries that you can guide through a world teeming with personality, all the while unraveling the secrets of the ancient Assassin's Order before it came to be. Oh, there are those annoying real-life segments, too.
If you're curious what all the hubbub is about, you can check out Assassin's Creed Odyssey for yourself now, as it's available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
